Airline Pet Policy
Last verified against Frontier's official policy: October 11, 2026
Frontier takes small pets in the cabin only, on U.S. flights only, for $149 each way. That fee is now on par with the big legacy airlines, not a budget bargain, and it's non-refundable. What Frontier still does differently is accept rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and small birds alongside cats and dogs. Everything below is checked against Frontier's official pet policy, its pet FAQ and its published fee schedule.

Your pet has to be harmless, not disruptive, odorless and need no attention during the flight. Frontier advises against sedation, since tranquilizers act unpredictably at altitude.

The carrier must let your pet stand, turn around and lie down naturally, and fit under the seat in front of you. Only one adult dog or cat per carrier. Some seats can't take a carrier; Frontier says it will work with you on a seat with space.
Your bag allowance. On top of the pet carrier, you can bring a personal item (8 x 14 x 18 in) or a carry-on bag (10 x 16 x 24 in). The carry-on has an extra fee.

Trained service dogs fly free and are the only animals Frontier takes internationally. For international travel a service dog needs a CDC Dog Import Form receipt, must be at least 4 months old, appear healthy, and have a microchip readable by a universal scanner. Emotional support animals aren't service animals under U.S. Department of Transportation rules, so on Frontier they fly as pets, with the $149 fee.

Frontier is one of the cheapest ways to fly a small pet, but it only works if your pet fits the cabin, and it will not carry a large dog at all. Compare who will take your pet on your route before you lock in dates.
