Contour is a regional airline flying small jets to smaller U.S. cities, many of them Essential Air Service routes. It takes dogs and cats in the cabin for a non-refundable $150 each way, but only if you reserve by phone, and only three pet carriers fit on a flight. Everything below is checked against Contour's official pet policy.

Contour's fee matches American's, but its carrier allowance is the most generous of the four, which helps a slightly larger cat or small dog. The three-carrier cap is the real limit.

Since July 1, 2026, Contour charges a non-refundable $150 each way for a pet in the cabin, so a round trip costs $300. Trained service dogs that meet Contour's requirements fly free.
No. Pets can't be booked online. You have to reserve your pet in advance by phone with Contour's Customer Experience team, after booking your own ticket.
The carrier can be up to 24 inches long, 16 inches wide and 10 inches high. It must fit under the seat and let your pet stand, lie down and turn around. The carrier counts as a carry-on item.
No more than three pet containers are allowed in the cabin at once, and each passenger can bring one pet carrier. On Contour's small regional jets, those three spots go fast, so call early.
Only domesticated dogs and cats. They must stay in their carrier for the whole flight, and you can't sit in an emergency exit row with a pet carrier.
Not as service animals. Under the Air Carrier Access Act, only dogs individually trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability qualify. Emotional support, comfort and companionship animals, and service animals in training, don't qualify and would fly as pets.
