Airline Pet Policy
Last verified against Allegiant's official policy: October 11, 2026
Allegiant takes cats and dogs in the cabin for $50 per segment, the lowest pet fee of the U.S. airlines we track, and two small pets can share one carrier for that one fee. The rules that trip people up are about where you sit and when you arrive: no aisle seats with a pet on Allegiant's Boeing jets, and check-in with an agent at least an hour before departure. Everything below is checked against Allegiant's official pet policy.

| Trip | Cost, one carrier |
|---|---|
| One-way nonstop | $50 |
| Round trip nonstop | $100 |
The fee is non-refundable. Allegiant's policy says $50 per segment, per carrier; its FAQ says $50 each way. Since Allegiant flies almost entirely nonstop, the two match on most trips [VERIFY: fee on a connecting Allegiant itinerary: per segment or per direction].

| Carrier | Maximum size, fully closed (L x W x H) |
|---|---|

Two items maximum. The pet carrier counts toward your two on-board items. Bring a personal item or a paid carry-on, not both. Anything extra is checked, with checked bag fees.

Allegiant accepts pets in the cabin within the contiguous 48 states. Its policy says international destinations and U.S. territories don't accept all pets [VERIFY: which Allegiant international and U.S. territory routes accept pets]. For any trip outside the lower 48, check the destination's own entry rules too; our pet passport guide covers the usual documents.
Allegiant is integrating with Sun Country. Allegiant says existing trips operate exactly as booked, and you keep dealing with the airline you booked with.

Trained service dogs fly free and aren't counted as pets. Under U.S. Department of Transportation rules, airlines can require the DOT service animal form ahead of travel. Emotional support animals aren't service animals under those rules, so on Allegiant they fly as pets, with the $50 fee and carrier rules.

On price Allegiant wins clearly: a round trip with two small pets in one carrier costs $100, against $298 per pet on Frontier. The trade-off is the one-hour counter check-in and, on Boeing jets, no aisle seat.

Allegiant charges a non-refundable $50 per segment, per carrier. A nonstop round trip with one carrier costs $100. Because the fee is per carrier, two small pets sharing one carrier pay a single fee.
A soft-sided carrier can be up to 18 x 12 x 11 inches and a hard-sided carrier up to 17 x 11 x 10.5 inches, measured fully closed. Both types are allowed, but Allegiant strongly suggests soft-sided. The carrier must be enclosed and leak-proof.
Yes, in one carrier. Allegiant allows up to two pets per carrier, and each paid traveler can bring one carrier. Both pets must fit comfortably without touching or sticking out of the carrier, and be able to stand up and turn around.
No. Allegiant does not transport animals in the cargo bin. Dogs and cats can only travel in the cabin in a carrier that goes under the seat for taxi, takeoff and landing.
Not on Boeing aircraft. Because of foot space limits, pet carriers are prohibited in aisle seats on Allegiant's Boeing planes, and a passenger who picked one will be moved. Passengers with pets also can't sit in an exit row or the bulkhead on any aircraft.
The pet carrier counts as one of your two items. You can bring the carrier plus a personal item, or the carrier plus a paid carry-on bag, but not both. An extra item will be checked and checked bag fees apply.
Allegiant does not require a health certificate for pets in the cabin. Your destination may still have its own rules. You must check in with an Allegiant agent at least one hour before departure so they can check the pet and carrier.
Every rule on this page was checked against Allegiant's official pet policy on October 11, 2026. Airlines change pet rules without notice, so check the official page again in the week you fly.
Allegiant has the lowest pet fee of any U.S. airline we cover, but it only flies pets in the cabin and mostly within the lower 48 states. Compare who will take your pet on your route before you lock in dates.
